Chrysler Group LLC confirmed again a diesel engine in the Ram 1500. It will be the powered by a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine mated with the eight-speed automatic transmission, to arrive in dealerships near the end of February. Chrysler CEO and chairman Sergio Marchionne said the vehicle is scheduled to go into production this month.
Looks like the slow adoption of natural gas for vehicles is the cause of the problem.
“As a result of market timing uncertainty, Cummins has paused the development of the ISX15 G natural gas engine,” Christy House, On-highway Marketing Communications Director for Cummins, says. “While we believe natural gas power will continue to grow in the North American truck market, the timing of the adoption of natural gas in long haul fleets preferring 15 liter engines is uncertain.” –
New fuels are available for the 2013 Chevrolet Duramax:

Cummins has a joint venture for a new bus order for the LA Metro agency. The bus service for Los Angeles.
LA Metro wants to add 550 natural gas buses to its fleet in 2014 and might add 350 more buses in 2016, Cummins Westport Inc. said in a news release. CWI, based in Vancouver, is a 50-50 joint venture between Cummins Inc. and Westport Innovations.
LA Metro runs more than 1,500 natural gas buses with CWI engines.
“LA Metro is dedicated to being 100 percent natural gas, and CWI is a valued partner in that,” John Drayton, manager for vehicle technology, said in the release.

Navistar is now producing vehicles in Mexico with the Cummins diesel engine. They tried to engineer their own engine, but went with Cummins for emissions and reliability record of performance. These trucks are being produced in Mexico with the Cummins.
Navistar builds a variety of trucks now, such as the MRAPS.
